Great Music in Stellenbosch

Morituri at the Wild Clover Farm just outside Stellenbosch, has started “The Bandstand”.

First up is the legendary acoustic-rock group “Tanglewood”. This 4–piece outfit has a large, loyal following in the Peninsula, having built a huge crowd at Simon’s on Fridays and, for the last two years, they have become an institution at the Lookout Deck in Hout Bay on Sunday evenings.

With strong vocal harmonies, their music ranges from the Eagles, CSN&Y, America to Simon & Garfunkel, Crowded House and Loggins & Messina. Tanglewood is at Morituri Stellenbosch every Friday night from 19h00.

There is no Couvert charge.

We will be bringing more music to “The Bandstand” at other times, so please watch this space.

New Menu

Phew! We’ve had a wonderful turnout for the Argus Cycle Tour and a well-supported, if somewhat wet, Two Oceans. (However, I don’t think anyone in the Cape will be sorry about the return of the rain!)

Easter is behind us, the schools are back and everyone is back at their posts…..

Just in time for our new menu!

Thank you Gordon

It was a miserable, cold and rainy Thursday evening and the restaurant was bustling and cosy. A phone call from The One and Only Hotel assured us that their guests were running late, but would definitely be there to claim their table.
At Morituri, new customers and old friends are treated with equal care. Telephone reservations are our life blood, whether from a seven star hotel or from a delivery service.  With our final few customers wrapping up their evening and settling their bills, we eagerly awaited our guests from The One and Only. As time ticked by we began to think it to be a “no show” – an unfortunate hazard of our industry.
However, not much later, we saw the silver courtesy BMW turn to park outside the restaurant. We had no idea that this moment would prove to be a defining moment in Morituri’s life.  As 4 guests stepped out the car, we all did a double take – is it? No, surely not…Yes, it is!
It’s Gordon Ramsay – the global foodie icon (and potentially, a restaurateur’s worst nightmare!)
With only 3 days in Cape Town, on his first night, Gordon Ramsay felt like a pizza and he had been told that Morituri’s was the place to go. Like any other customer, Gordon was given the Morituri treatment – unpretentious fare, authentic flavours - Cucina con Amore – cooked with love.

Elton John's Rocketman pizza

Press Release: 29th March 2010

Alan Pluke, the owner of the small pizza take-away Ciao Amici, was requested to supply 16 pizzas to Elton John and his entourage after their opening concert last Wednesday night. This was a fantastic opportunity and a compliment to the quality of his pizzas, as Alan only recently opened Ciao Amici – (Pr. Chow ameechee; trans. Hello Friends)

In celebration of this event, he has re-named the one pizza that was particularly popular as “Elton’s Rocketman” – a combination of Chicken, Feta, Green Pepper, Banana, Piri-piri sauce and, of course, fresh Rocket leaves.

Ciao Amici will also be offering a “conveniently Italian” range of fresh pastas, sauces and Italian delicacies from next week, giving customers the choice of either preparing the food at home or ordering from the take-away menu. Ciao Amici is listed with Mr. Delivery Constantia and Tokai for home delivery.
